What is the solution to earache?
Ear infections are not unknown to us. This disease is more
common in children. In addition to ringing in the ears, many people can also
have a ruptured eardrum. With proper treatment, this disease is completely
curable.
Professor Dr. explained in detail about the disease and its
solution. Ghafoor Mandal
The ear is divided into three parts. The outer ear is the
one we normally see, the middle ear is on the other side of the eardrum, and
the inner ear is where the auditory nerve originates. The eardrum is located at
the end of the earlobe. The function of this membrane is to carry the sound we
hear through the middle ear to the cochlear nerve.
The function of the ear is mainly twofold. One is the sound
we are all familiar with. A second function of the ear that we are often
unaware of is to balance the body. The inner ear is the main and one of the
body balance organs outside the brain. Ear infections usually start in
childhood.
Most of the time children get ear infections or colds from
what we commonly call the common cold. There is no child who has never had an
ear infection at some point in their life. Most of the time, complete cure of
this infection is possible with proper treatment. If this infection is not
properly treated or not treated adequately, the eardrum may rupture from the
infection.
Ear problems are more common in children who have chronic
adenoiditis or whose adenoids become enlarged. Frequent ear infections lead to
ruptured eardrums. Sometimes tonsil, nose or sinus infections are frequent or
even if the nose is always blocked, ear problems can increase.
If the adenoid, tonsil or nasal problem continues for a long
time, it affects the Eustachian tube and tonsils appear. Eustachian tube
function does not fully return even after adenoid or nasal problems are
treated. As a result, the treatment of a patient with a ruptured eardrum or
ruptured eardrum becomes complicated or does not want to heal easily.
In adults, tinnitus usually begins in childhood. They either
have a ruptured eardrum from childhood or the eardrum is already weakened due
to the function of the Eustachian tube being used. Many times, I see that when
water gets inside the ear, the ear starts to dry. At first sight it seems so;
But if water gets inside the ear, ear infection is not supposed to start.
If that were the case, those who swam regularly would have
their ears ripe all the time. The fact is, these patients have already ruptured
eardrums, which causes their ears to dry out when water enters the ear. Many
times, it is seen that the eardrum is ruptured with a small injury. In most
cases, if the eardrum is healthy, a minor injury should not cause the eardrum
to rupture - if this happens, it means the eardrum was already sick or weak.
However, severe trauma to the ear can also rupture the
healthy membrane. Like a good slap on the ear. With a slight cold and cough,
the eardrum bursts and discharges pus and water. This should not happen if the
eardrum is healthy. Elderly patients often have weakened eardrums since
childhood or have weakened eardrums due to persistent nasal or sinus infections
or, in some cases, persistent inflammation of the tonsils.
Symptoms or problems
The patient may experience hearing loss - this can range
from mild to severe. Pus-water comes out of the ear to ripen the ear. Sometimes
dizzy. There is a buzzing sound inside the head. Sometimes there may be pain in
the ears. The discharge of pus and water from the ear is occasional in the
early stages; But if the ear is constantly itching, it is often seen that the
ear does not want to dry at any time. Many times, water starts coming out of the
ear when you have a cold or cough.
Types
Generally, there are two types of eardrum rupture – one is in
the front part of the eardrum and the other is in the back part of the eardrum.
Back ulcers are usually serious - treatment should be started very soon.
Sometimes the eardrum may be completely destroyed due to prolonged exposure to
eardrums and frequent ear infections.
To be done
If the curtain is cracked, the ear must be kept dry. Water
should not enter the ear. While taking a bath, wet cotton with oil and then put
a cotton chip in the ear and take a bath. Never swim underwater or jump into
water. If there is an ear infection, the ear needs to be cleaned properly and
then antibiotic drops are given in the ear.
Cleaning the ear is important and in many cases it needs to
be done by a specialist with the help of a microscope. In rare cases,
antibiotics may be prescribed or injected. Antibiotic drops should not be given
in dry ears - it can cause serious damage to the ear, or even complete loss of
hearing. So the tendency to use antibiotic drops at will for dry ears must be
avoided.
An audiogram is needed to test hearing and other ear abilities. It shows how damaged the ear is. Sometimes we don't understand the problem; but inwardly the ear gets damaged, and hearing continues to decline. Therefore, every 3 to 6 months the hearing test should be done, and the amount of hearing should be recorded.
